Can a landlord kick you out of your apartment at any time while you are on a Month to Month Lease in NJ.?

Its going to be 2yrs since Ive moved into my apartment.I did not renew my lease last year so i converted to a month to month lease. I was sent a letter stating what bank has my deposit and the I will receive a check with the amount plus interest. Does that mean they are kicking me out or its just that i need to sign it and state that i will continue a month to month tenancy?

Its the weekend and every time I call the office or the super no one is available. Your answers are appreciated thank you.|||They must give you 30 days notice on a month to month. Wait until monday and call them and find otu what is up.|||This sounds like simple year end accounting for the interest that they have to clear up. This is the time that landlords are doing all that year end crap. I have a huge pile on my desk to get through :-(

When you have a month to month lease the landlord can ask yo to leave at any time, but they are required to give you a proper 30 days notice.|||Sounds like the apartment building was foreclosed on and the you deal with the bank so you have to get your deposit from there. Your lease expired and they only have to give you 30 days notice for you to leave. It is not an eviction. A landlord can give 30 days notice like a tenant can.|||He has to give you a 30 day notice unless you are behind in the rent.|||I think he needs just cause.|||look at the letter again....under NJ law the landlord is supposed to send you a check for the interest on your deposit....sounds like maybe that's what you received.
