however, it passed emmisions testing, and yet it seems my car needs struss or something, I really don't remember the name of the part, and some regulator for fluid other than that my car runs is fine. but the parts are really expensive and way over my budget, about 700 dollars. Also, with the way the economy is they have been cutting hours at my work place since september and its been really difficult since I pay rent at my apartment and other bills and I'm a full time student majoring in architecture. I'm hoping once my financial aid gets deposited I will update my inspection asap. Since that is my only mode of transportation, from work and school. Unfortunately, I wish I can ask my dad for the money but he was diagnosed with prostate cancer 7 years ago and his health is weakening now and he needs the money for his meds. As far as my mother she passed away when I was 15 of lung cancer. Therefore, is there a way if I get pulled over that the police officer can grant me a break because if I had the funds I definitely would update the sticker, I never slack on these things but recently its been tough. I'm just worried at times driving to school...what should I do?|||No you will not get any breaks for an expired state inspection %26amp; you will then be able to add the cost of the fine on top of the repair costs to get the car legal again.
And if you continue to drive with an expired SI %26amp; continue to be cited, you may then be looking at a possible impound of the vehicle when the officer sees multiple citations for an expired SI.
Either find some way to get it fixed %26amp; legal or find a car you can afford %26amp; trade that one off.
And it is probably struts that your car needs. Those are basically the shocks for the car, but is different than a regular shock absorber. Also, some cars have both front %26amp; rear struts %26amp; it can become a little expensive when they need replaced since an alignment needs to be done when they are properly installed.|||The police won't cut you a break.
The law is the law.
The next question would be "since I'm low on funds, do you mind if I rob a convenience store? I REALLY need the money."
If you can't afford to fix the car, look into selling it, or trading it for a car that does pass inspection.
